TW LW Team Our Take
1 1
(11-2-0)
This isn't a football team, it's a bloody machine. So much for the Ticats serving notice to the rest of the CFL that they deserve to be put in the same league as the Als. The Alouettes didn't just beat the Ticats, they punked them. They beat them in such a way to show them who are the true top dogs in the East. Avon Cobourne had an incredible game, piling up 239 yards and two touchdowns both rushing and receiving.

Wow. Playing before a record crowd at Commonwealth Stadium, the Riders dug down deep and came up with a huge win on the road in Edmonton. Darian Durant overcame three interceptions to lead the Riders to a win they needed to keep pace with the Stamps in the West. Steve Jyles turned out to be the hero with his clutch one-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.

All of the Stamps big stars on offence made big the big plays in their win over the Lions. Joffrey Reynolds ran for 151 yards. Receiver Jermaine Copeland pulled in a touchdown and quarterback Henry Burris had a vintage game. Smiling Hank threw for 197 yards and a touchdown and ran in for two more as the Stamps temporarily took over first place in the West. I find it interesting that the Stamps end the regular season against the Riders. That could very well determine first place.

What a heartbreaker for Ricky Ray and the Eskies. With such a huge crowd on hand at Commonwealth, losing to the Riders had to hurt. It was amazing both teams could score as many points as they did considering how windy it was. Richie Hall has to be a little worried about the fact his team has lost three of their last four games.

For Marcel Bellefuille and the Tiger-Cats, that was about as bad as it gets. That was far and away the worst performance of the year for the Ticats. The Als took them out behind the proverbial woodshed and gave them an old fashioned whooping. All they can do is try and forget about that beating and get ready for the Stamps.

This is how crazy the CFL is this year. With their loss to the Stamps, the Lions only have a two-point lead over the Bombers for the final playoff spot in the league. I say "final" because everyone assumed the worst the Lions would do this year would earn the crossover spot. Now, the Lions are looking over their shoulders at the Bombers.

When everyone in the entire CFL was dumping on Mike Kelly and the Bombers, Michael Bishop stepped up and saved the day. The Former Argos quarterback beat his old team for the second time and kept the Bombers slim playoff hopes alive. That's right, the Bombers are still alive in the wacky CFL playoff race.

If you were playing for the Argos and you were on the flight home from Winnipeg, you must have told yourself;" So this is what rock bottom feels like". Not only did they lose to the sad-sack Bombers, but former quarterback Michael Bishop threw for 312 yards and two touchdowns. It's pretty hard to sell the CFL in a saturated sports market like Toronto with an effort like that. No worries Bart Andrus, because the Als are coming to Rogers Centre this week.
