TW LW Team Our Take
1 1
(11-2-0)
Same as it ever was. Not only have the Als clinched a playoff spot, they already know they're hosting the East final at the Big O. Chip Cox had a huge game against the Argos with nine tackles, a sack and a 61-yard touchdown off of a fumble recovery. The only concern for the Als was the groin injury to their outstanding running back Avon Cobourne.

That was ugly, but in the West, any win, even the ugly ones are huge. At this point, I really don't think that John Hufnagel is going to get too concerned with style points. He just wants to keep wining and move one step closer to hosting the West final. To do that, he will need Henry Burris to do something a little better than 132 yards passing and two interceptions.

That loss to the Lions had to hurt the entire Rider Nation. Good news is on the way because up next, the Riders host the Argos at Mosaic stadium. A special shout-out to one of my favourite people in the CFL, offensive lineman Gene Makowsky, who played in his 246th game for the Riders to tie Ron Lancaster for second most career games in franchise history.

In a few short weeks, the Lions have worked their way back into the thick of the playoff race in the West. Forget the crossover, the Lions still have an outside shot at a home playoff game. What a huge catch by Geroy Simon to help put Sean Whyte in a position to kick the game-winning field goal.

I felt bad for the Ticat defence. They held Burris to 132 yards passing and held the Stamps to 15 points… and they still lost. In other words, this one was on the Ticats offence. Up next, the Hamilton hosts the Bombers in what has become a big game for both teams.

Fort McMurray, we have a problem. Losers of four of their past five games Richie Hall might be ready to ship his players off to the tar sands in Fort McMurray if they don't start winning some games soon. Now the Lions come to Commonwealth with the loser staring at the possibility of the crossover.

I could just imagine the callers on Bob Irvin's post-game, phone-in show: "Mike Kelly for coach of the year!", "the Bombers are going all the way!" Seriously though, with their second straight win, the Bombers have put themselves back in playoff contention.

Losing hurts, a 3-10 record hurts; but the fact that hundreds of Als fan were serenading the Argos with the "ole, ole, ole, ole" chant and the "na, na, na, na, goodbye" chant was way too much to take. This is the Argos second straight lost season. I love Kerry Joseph's comment to David Naylor of the Globe and Mail after the game: “We’re still trying to find our rhythm.” Uh, Kerry, you guys have played 13 games, how in the hell can you still be trying to find your rhythm?
