Stampeders bring back Rambo
January 29, 2010
PRESS RELEASE
Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel announced Friday that import receiver Ken-Yon Rambo has signed a contract extension with the club. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
"We were all disappointed for Ken-Yon when he suffered his knee injury early in 2009, but he has worked very hard to get back in shape," said Hufnagel. "He has been a highly productive receiver and he’s determined to be back on top in 2010. We look forward to seeing him back on the football field."
Rambo caught 17 passes for 179 yards in three games last season before suffering a season-ending knee injury at BC on July 24. He surpassed the 4,000 mark in career receiving yards on July 10 at Winnipeg. Rambo led the league with 1,473 receiving yards in 2008 and his 100 receptions represented the highest total for a Stamps receiver since 1995.
"I am to happy to be back with the Stamps," said Rambo. "The organization is first-class and this coaching staff and veteran group are like a family to me. Offensively, our core has been together for several years now and I think we play well as a group. We have outstanding chemistry and I hope we can keep that going. I can’t wait for the 2010 season to get started; it’s like a renewal for me and I will be back with a vengeance."
