ENOCH, Alta. -- Earning the CFL's best regular-season record and a Grey Cup title has secured Montreal Alouettes head coach Marc Trestman another honour.
Trestman was named the CFL's coach of the year at a luncheon Friday.
Trestman secured the honour ahead of Marcel Bellefeuille of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Ken Miller of the Saskatchewan Roughriders in voting conducted by the Football Reporters of Canada.
Trestman, a finalist for the award last year, guided Montreal to a CFL-best 15-3 record. The Alouettes capped their season with a thrilling 28-27 win over Saskatchewan in the Grey Cup.
Montreal was 9-0 at home under Trestman and scored over 600 points for the second straight year.
Trestman has led Montreal to a 26-10-0 regular-season record during his two seasons with the CFL club. The Alouettes also reached the 2008 Grey Cup final before losing to the Calgary Stampeders.
Miller, entering his third season with Saskatchewan, led the Riders to top spot in the West Division with a 10-7-1 record. The club's Grey Cup berth was its second in three years.
Bellefeuille, an Ottawa native, led the resurgent Hamilton Tiger-Cats to a 9-9 record, good enough for second spot in the East Division. It also secured the Ticats their first home playoff game since 2001 and first post-season berth since 2004.
