Last week, I joined the voice of the Riders, Rod Pederson, on his show the Sports Cage on CKRM in Regina. Rod asked me if CFL fans and media in Eastern Canada viewed Riders Nation as being arrogant. My answer to that was, so what?, they've earned it. Mr. Pederson has the distinction of being the voice of the best team in the CFL. The Riders Nation have the best fan base in the CFL. If that's perceived as arrogant, so be it. And one more thing, Brent Hawkins is turning out to be an incredible replacement for John Chick and Stevie Baggs. |

Mr. Lefko took some shots at my man Anwar Stewart and the Als defence last week. Well, Stewart and the Als defence shoved those words down Lefko's hairy throat as they held Casey Printers and the Lions to 12 points in a very hard fought road win in BC. It wasn't the prettiest win the Als have ever had, but Marc Trestman knows these are the kind of games you need to find a way to win to become a champion. Then again, Trestman and the Als already know what it takes to be a champion. |

I don't care how a team wins, just as long as they end up winning the game. When you consider the brutal 3-15 season the Argos suffered through in 2009, they will gladly take their 2-1 start in 2010. Jim Barker keeps preaching to everyone that it is going to take time for the Argos offence to fire on all cylinders. In the meantime, Barker can rely on a strong running game with Cory Boyd and a strong defensive effort from Kevin Eiben and the boys. |

John Hufnagel has a reputation for being a tad surly even at the best of times, So imagine the kind of foul mood Hufnagel would have been in after looking at the game film of the Stamps loss to the Argos. It's never a good thing when your franchise quarterback, Henry Burris, basically hands the game to the other team when he tosses four interceptions. If not for their sloppy play and the turnovers, the Stamps would be 3-0 right now. They didn't get away with that kind of football against the Argos and they damn sure won't get away it this week against the green powerhouse from Regina. |

Win or lose, I am still in awe of the Lions temporary home, Empire Stadium. If only Toronto could have a stadium like that to play in. Wally Buono can't hang this loss on his defence after they held Anthony Calvillo and the Als to 16 points. This one falls on Casey Printers and the offence. 12 points in your own barn just isn't going to cut it in the CFL. Printers and the Lions offence will look to turn it around this week at Rogers Centre. I do know this: Buono and the Lions will be spending a lot of time on special teams as they look to find a way to stop the Argos' Chad Owens. |

Kevin Glenn played like a man on a mission in the Ticats first win of the season. Glenn's numbers were off the charts, going 29 of 36 for 336 yards and three touchdowns in the Ticats first win of 2010. Yes, Glenn had some help from the officials but the man still got the job done. It was nice to see former St. Mary's Husky Dave Stala have such a big game. Hey, you don't win in the CFL without good Canadians. The real test for Glenn and the Ticats will come this week when they take on the Als at Molson Stadium. |

Paul LaPolice and the Bombers have a right to be pissed off after their loss in Hamilton. For one thing, the Bombers didn't play their best game. Not helping matters was the awful blown fumble call on Kevin Glenn. At that point, the game was 14-0 -- instead of the Bombers having the ball and a chance to get back in the game, two plays later Glenn made it 21-0. After all is said and done, LaPolice and the Bombers realize they still have some work to do. |

So this is what rock bottom must feel like. The mighty Eskimos, the pre-season pick by many to win the West, are now 0-3. Eskimo fans will point out that Fred Stamps had 12 catches for 213 yards but he dropped a sure touchdown in the 3rd quarter. Kelly Campbell also dropped a touchdown pass. Now the Eskies have to get ready to face a ticked off Bombers team in the 'Peg. |
