SURREY, B.C. -- The B.C. Lions have signed Canadian receiver Shawn Gore, the club announced Sunday.
The Toronto native was taken 10th overall in this year's CFL draft but elected to sign a free-agent contract with the NFL's Green Bay Packers.
Gore, who played Canadian university football at Bishop's, attended Green Bay's training camp but was released by the Packers on Aug. 28th.
The 23-year-old led the Gaiters with 32 catches for 496 yards and five touchdowns in 2009.
"I'm very excited to be joining the Lions," Gore said in a release. "I can't wait to get there, compete, contribute and start my CFL career."
