The Saskatchewan Roughriders, seeking a place kicker to replace Luca Congi, who suffered a serious right knee injury in 34-26 loss to Calgary on Sunday, are about to sign free agent Canadian kicker Warren Kean, Sportsnet.ca has learned.

Kean, selected second overall by the Edmonton Eskimos in 2007, is en route to Regina and scheduled to practise on Wednesday. It is unlikely he will play this Saturday when the Riders play in Edmonton. Kean had limited playing time in Edmonton and later with Winnipeg.

The Riders used import punter Eddie Johnson, who can also place kick, after Congi suffered the injury in the second quarter and he connected on his only field goal try.
