With starter Steven Jyles and backup Alex Brink sidelined for the remainder of the season with injuries suffered in a 27-8 loss to Toronto on Sunday that officially ended any chance of them making the playoffs and has them last in the Canadian Football League, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are running into problems finding replacements.

Two sources told Sportsnet.ca that Cody Pickett, who had stops in Toronto, Montreal and Calgary, has turned down an offer to sign with Winnipeg.

Because the CFL trade deadline has passed, the Bombers cannot acquire another pivot in a deal. They can try to pluck a player off another team's roster, but will be required to make that player part of the active roster, or they can try to sign a player off their negotiation list.

The Bombers' only health quarterback is rookie Joey Elliott, who signed with the team in July and was thrust into duty against Toronto when the other two suffered injuries.
