TW LW Team Our Take
1 1
(13-5-0)
Dominant ending to the season, establishing a crushing mentality in final two games. Quarterback Henry Burris is in fine fettle. Loved the touchdown celebrations on the ATVs. Lighten up refs, it was funny. Do you want to become the No Fun League?
2 2
(12-6-0)
Mailed in the last game with a feeble effort, minus their big stars. They had better show more passion and desire in the East final because the Als still have issues on defence.
3 7
(10-8-0)
Snapped a four-game losing streak and their best players played that way, setting up plenty of momentum at home for the West semi-final.
4 5
(8-10-0)
Did what they had to do, to help control their destiny by beating Hamilton and forcing Edmonton to match. Travis Lulay is playing with passion but the Lions still need far more production from their top receivers. They could also use a big effort from returner Yonus Davis, who didn’t do match against Hamilton. Kicker Paul McCallum looks as solid as ever.
5 3
(9-9-0)
Two key losses in the final two games and even playing with their first-string players at home, they couldn’t beat B.C. Without Arland Bruce they are vulnerable. Aside from Dave Stala and the emerging Chris Bauman, the receiving corps is not doing the job. Defence needs to stop taking undisciplined penalties and rush end Stevie Baggs needs to elevate his play, after ordinary outings in last two games, following some huge games.
6 6
(9-9-0)
Clearly, the Argos wanted to beat Montreal more than the Als wanted to beat them, but that shouldn’t be taken to mean a whole lot. Every game going forward is about quarterback Cleo Lemon, defining himself as a bonafide CFL starting quarterback. The defence, running game and special teams are solid.
7 4
(7-11-0)
Simply made too many self-inflicting mistakes, in the final regular-season game. The evaluation process begins now for general manager Eric Tillman. Does he keep head coach Richie Hall? Will quarterback Ricky Ray still be the starter?
8 8
(4-14-0)
Head coach Paul LaPolice can spend the off-season analyzing what went wrong? I can’t believe he wasn’t more daring in the last game, electing to punt rather than gamble on a third-down play late in the game. Take a shot LaPo. What did you really stand to lose besides another loss, which really didn’t matter after all that happened in the previous 17 games? If only for the fans, he should have shown his Cojones.
