Marcus 'Chunky' Adams was not out of work long.
The former Riders defensive tackle, released by Saskatchewan on March 29, has agreed to a two-year contract, including an option, with the Edmonton Eskimos, Sportsnet.ca has learned.
The move reunites the 31-year-old with Edmonton general manager Eric Tillman, who had given Adams two extensions when the pair had previously worked together in Regina.
Adams was productive for the Riders last season, starting 16 games, making 26 defensive tackles and recording two sacks.
This is only Adams' second CFL stop. He had played his entire career in Saskatchewan (2003-2010), but new Riders head coach Greg Marshall has brought in a completely different body type than the undersized Adams to work in the interior of the team's defensive line.
Veteran tackles Dario Romero and Tearrius George were added, which made Adams expendable. Ironically, Adams may take over Romero's spot should he crack the Eskimos roster, but at a lower cap hit than the $80,000 annual ticket Romero signed for in Saskatchewan.
