Chapdelaine leaving Lions?

B.C. Lions offensive coordinator Jacques Chapdelaine has been offered the head coaching job with the Bishop's Gaiters and is believed to be meeting with university principal Michael Goldbloom on Thursday in Sherbrooke, Que.

Chapdelaine was the offensive coordinator at Bishop's in the 1990s, before leaving for the top job with the Laval Rouge et Or in 1997. He broke into the CFL when he joined Wally Buono's Calgary Stampeders staff in 2001, winning a Grey Cup that year. He was elevated to offensive coordinator the following season.

Chapdelaine is originally from Sherbrooke and still has strong ties to the Eastern Townships. His wife, Kim, helped launch a track program at Bishop's in the early 90s.

A Simon Fraser alum, the 50-year-old Chapdelaine was a first round CFL pick of the Lions in 1983 and played in the league through the 1989 season. He has three Grey Cup rings as a coach, the final two with B.C. in 2006 and last month when the Lions knocked off Winnipeg.
