On Wednesday the Saskatchewan Roughriders announced the signing of All-Canadian kicker/punter Chris Bodnar, formerly of the University of Regina Rams.

After being released by the Edmonton Eskimos in June 2011, Bodnar was returned to the Rams where he turned in an outstanding season. In seven games Bodnar averaged 44.6 yards per punt, good enough for tops in the CIS. He was also named a CIS first team All-Canadian.

In 2010, the 23-year-old hit 12 of the 18 field goals he kicked and averaged 41.0 yards per punt, which again led the league.

Bodnar previously played for the Saskatoon Hilltops where he was named a CJFL All-Canadian in 2008 and 2009.

The financial details of the signing were not released.
