It didn't take long for Chris Bauman to find a new home.
Less than a week after being cut by the Edmonton Eskimos, Bauman has come to terms on a two-year deal with the Calgary Stampeders, sportsnet.ca has learned.
The Stampeders have had their sights on Bauman for quite some time. Calgary went hard after the Canadian receiver's services last February when he hit the free agent market, but were outbid by their rivals up the road.
It is expected the Stamps will lose veteran non-import target Arjei Franklin next month. The Windsor, Ont. native has expressed a preference to play closer to home next season, opening up a spot for the 27-year-old Bauman, a University of Regina product.
The Stamps will become Bauman's third team and he has been a disappointment in his first two stops. The hope is that along with Johnny Forzani, another young Canadian in Calgary's receiving corps, Bauman can re-establish his career.
Hamilton invested the top selection of the draft in the promising young prospect five years ago and he did little with the Tiger-Cats. He was equally disappointing with the Eskimos, active in only seven games last season, grabbing 11 balls for 132 yards.
Edmonton had been shopping Bauman, originally from Brandon, Manitoba, last season, but there were no takers, especially with his high salary cap hit.
