The Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel announced Thursday the team has signed Cody Brown and Chase Vaughn, who will be used as import defensive linemen.
Brown was a second-round pick of the NFL's Arizona Cardinals in 2009 after spending four seasons as a linebacker with the University of Connecticut Huskies.
In his senior year, he was named a Big East all-star after recording 55 tackles, 10 sacks and four forced fumbles.
The 25-year-old has had short stints with the New York Jets and Detroit Lions.
Vaughn was also a linebacker in his college days with Colorado State University-Pueblo. Vaughn, who has played in the Indoor Football League since 2010, has experience playing defensive end.
The terms of the contracts were not disclosed due to team policy.
