Stampeders boost receiving corps
The Calgary Stampeders signed import receivers Marquay McDaniel, Dominique Johnson, Maurice Price and Fred Rouse on Wednesday.
McDaniel started 2011 with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats but spent part of the year on the Stamps practice roster. He appeared in just one game for the Ticats last season, making four catches for 60 yards. In 2009, McDaniel was Hamilton's nominee for the CFL's Most Oustanding Rookie. In 2010, he had 76 receptions for 998 yards and seven touchdowns. He spent part of 2007 and 2008 with the Denver Broncos of the NFL.
Johnson was with the Minnesota Vikings for a short time as he signed with the club as an undrafted free agent in July 2011, but was released in August. He played two seasons at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where he record 90 receptions for 1,375 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Price spent 10 weeks on Calgary's practice roster in 2009 before spending time with the Jacksonville Sharks of the Arena Football League. He also had brief stints in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Washington Redskins, Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers, New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs.
Rouse also spent some time on the Stamps' practice roster last season. Prior to that, he was with the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League.
