Alouettes sign five draft picks, ink pair of Canadian QBs

MONTREAL – The Montreal Alouettes signed five of its draft picks on Thursday, inking A-Dre Fraser and Matthew Toppan to four-year deals and signed George Johnson, Emmett Tims and Maiko Zepeda to two-year contracts.

The Alouettes also signed Canadian quarterbacks Drew Burko of the Saskatchewan Huskies and Jimmy Underdahl of the Calgary Dinos to two-year contracts.

The six-foot-four Burko played four seasons at Saskatchewan, completing 572 of 951 passes for 7,549 yards and 50 touchdowns.

Five-foot-11 Underdahl played 28 games for Calgary Dinos over four seasons, amassing 872 passing yards and six touchdowns. He also rushed for 413 yards on 76 carries.

Defensive back Dominique Termansen, who helped British Columbia to a Vanier Cup last season and who Montreal the protected after the draft, signed a two-year deal.

Fraser, a receiver, was drafted in the sixth round while offensive lineman Toppan was an eighth-rounder.
