MONTREAL – The Montreal Alouettes have signed national linebacker Nicolas Boulay to a two-year contract extension.

The six-foot, 200-pound native of Magog, Que., had 13 special teams tackles and a fumble this past season.

"Nicolas continues to improve and has quickly risen to one of our elite special teamers," Alouettes general manager Jim Popp said in a statement. "He is a relentless hard worker on and off the field representing the Alouettes."

Boulay joined the Alouettes after a standout university career with the Universite de Sherbrooke Vert et Or.

He had 58.5 tackles and two sacks in his last varsity season in 2012.
