MONTREAL — The Montreal Alouettes agreed to a three-year contract extension with running back Tyrell Sutton on Tuesday.

The five-foot-eight 213-pound native of Akron, Oh., had 96 carries for 500 yards over 12 games in his second CFL season.

"This is an important signing for the club today," Alouettes general Manager Jim Popp. "Tyrrell has been an intricate part of us solidifying playoff spots the last two seasons. Though he has only played a half season each year, he has become a solid, trustworthy part of our offence."

Sutton, who missed the post-season due to a foot injury, also caught 15 passes for 190 yards and returned 11 kickoffs for 212 yards.
