Canadian offensive lineman Ryan Bomben has agreed to a contract extension with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, per CFL sources.

The Ticats acquired Bomben by sending their first- and third-round picks, eighth and 24th overall, in the 2015 CFL Draft to Montreal just before the pick-fest got underway on May 12.

The 28-year-old can play guard or tackle, and he’s one of the top non-import offensive linemen in the league. Bomben’s new contract ensures he will be a mainstay on Hamilton’s front line for years to come.

Bomben was selected in the fourth round, 31st overall, in 2010 by the Alouettes after four standout years at the University of Guelph. The six-foot-four, 305-pound blocker played four seasons with Montreal, suiting up in 72 games. He was used as a tight end in goal-line packages, making eight receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown while with the Als.

Bomben scored his second career touchdown and first with Hamilton on an eight-yard reception against Winnipeg on Aug. 9.

Bomben—a Burlington, Ont., native who grew up a Ticats fan—started for Hamilton out of the gate in 2015 until he suffered an ankle injury on Aug. 27 against Montreal that’s kept him out of the lineup.
