CALGARY — The Calgary Stampeders have signed Canadian receiver Jabari Arthur to a contract extension.
The 32-year-old from Montreal has 95 catches for 1,145 yards and six touchdowns over 71 career games with the Stampeders. In 2013, Arthur played all 18 games and had career season highs in receptions (41), yards (510) and touchdown catches (three).
"Jabari is an experienced Canadian receiver whose versatility has allowed him to play multiple receiver positions," Stampeders coach and general manager John Hufnagel said Wednesday in a release. "I look forward to seeing him take advantage of an opportunity to play a larger role in the offence."
Arthur had nine catches for 77 yards and two touchdowns over 14 games last season. He missed the first four games with a hamstring injury and served as a backup slotback upon his return.
Arthur, a first-round draft pick of the Stampeders in 2007, was injured during the post-season. The Stampeders beat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to win the Grey Cup in Vancouver.
The six-foot-four 225-pound receiver was also on Calgary’s Grey Cup-winning team in 2008, but saw limited action.
The University of Akron alumnus was traded to Winnipeg in 2009, but didn’t play any games for the Blue Bombers. He re-signed with Calgary in 2010.
