RENTON, Wash -- It didn't take Canadian Jon Ryan long to land another job in the NFL.

The Regina-born punter agreed to terms with the Seattle Seahawks, a week after being released by the Green Bay Packers. He replaces Ryan Plackemeier, who Seattle drafted in 2006.

Plackemeier averaged 40.1 yards on 11 punts in Seattle's 34-10 road loss to Buffalo. But he posted a net average of just 30 yards and had two 22-yard kicks in the second quarter while also having one of his punts returned 63 yards for a touchdown.

But Ryan is all too familiar about getting the boot from an NFL team.

He spent two seasons in Green Bay before being released by the Packers after they signed Derrick Frost, who had been cut loose by the Washington Redskins.

The Packers' decision to release Ryan was surprising as he averaged 48 yards a punt during the exhibition season.

Ryan began his pro career in the CFL, spending two seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. In 2005, Ryan averaged a league-record 50.6 yards per punt.
