METAIRIE, La. -- Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey will be out three to six weeks because of a sports hernia.
Saints spokesman Greg Bensel confirmed to The Associated Press that Shockey was scheduled to undergo surgery this week.
He played Sunday in the Saints' 34-32 loss at Denver. He had five catches for 56 yards.
Shockey's injury was first reported on the (New Orleans) Times-Picayune's website. A sports hernia is the weakening of muscles or tendons in the lower abdominal wall.
