BUFFALO - They're going on the road to play a home game in Toronto. Such is life for the Buffalo Bills, their playoff hopes hanging by a thread.
After losing 10-3 to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday at Ralph Wilson Stadium, dropping their record to 6-6 after starting off the season 4-0, the Bills hope Toronto fans will embrace them this Sunday at Rogers Centre facing the visiting Miami Dolphins.
This will be the first-ever regular-season game played in Canada.
The Dolphins are 7-5 and have already beaten the Bills once this season.
Receiver Lee Evans told Sportsnet.ca that he feels going to Toronto will be advantageous for the Bills, even though there could be many Dolphins fans in the crowd.
"I think the crowd will be very excited for us to come up there," he said. "I think it will be like a home atmosphere from the crowd. I don't think it's all the way neutral."
While the Bills' pre-season game at Rogers Centre against the Pittsburgh Steelers produced an equal level of support for both teams, Buffalo cornerback Leodis McKelvin expects fans will show their support for his team.
"We're just going to go out there and play," he said. "We'd love to have all our fans support us. The pre-season game was half and half, but we're going to back over this week and a lot of fans are going to come with us and are going to make a lot of noise.
"We just need the support. We need the fans behind us to try to put four good quarters together."
Returner Roscoe Parrish does not believe it will be difficult to play the game in Toronto and lose the advantage of playing at home, both in terms of the open-air stadium and the crucial fan support.
"Anywhere you go it don't matter," he said. "We played one game earlier this year, so we know what to look for whatever and we play them in the inside (with the roof closed), so ain't no weather problems on that. It's going to be a fair game, so we've got to take advantage of the situation because we're still in the playoff hunt."
