CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. -- An arrest warrant has been issued for former New York Giants star Mark Ingram after he failed to report to federal prison to begin serving nearly eight years for bank fraud and money laundering.
Ingram pleaded guilty in November 2005 and was ordered to surrender to a prison in Ashland, Ky., last Friday, but he never showed up.
A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's office on Long Island, where Ingram was prosecuted, said a warrant for Ingram's arrest was issued Monday. Ingram was still on the lam as of Wednesday.
The 1991 Super Bowl standout has sought to remain free until after the college football season so he could watch his son's freshman season as a running back at the University of Alabama.
