BOSTON -- The New England Patriots signed offensive lineman Dan Connolly from their practice squad on Saturday and ended linebacker Pierre Woods' season by putting him on the injured reserve list with a jaw injury.

Connolly has played in four career games, all with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2005. This season, the six-foot-four, 313-pound offensive lineman was on the Patriots' active roster for the first five games. He was released Oct. 20 and signed to the team's practice squad two days later.

The 26-year-old Woods has played in 36 career games with three starts since being signed by the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Michigan in May, 2006.
