RIVER FALLS, Wis. -- The Kansas City Chiefs signed veteran Amani Toomer to a one-year deal Tuesday, adding experience to a young receiving corps.
Toomer, wearing a No. 13 jersey, joined the Chiefs for practice Tuesday afternoon, a day after working out for the coaches. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Toomer spent his first 13 season with the New York Giants, catching 668 passes for 9,497 yards and 54 touchdowns. The 34-year-old had 48 catches for 580 yards and four TDs.
Toomer should give new Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel another quality target and provide leadership to a group of young receivers who don't have much experience.
