The Miami Dolphins have signed a receiver who couldn't cut it with the Toronto Argonauts.

James Robinson, who appeared in 13 games for Toronto last year, catching 25 balls for 381 yards and one touchdown, impressed the Dolphins in a workout.

Robinson, whom the Argos cut last week, clocked a sub-4.40 time in a 40-yard workout.

"He's got size, and the guy can flat out go," head coach Tony Sparano said of Robinson in a media release. "He can run very fast ... catches the ball pretty well. When you're looking at a developmental player you want one of those kinds of guys, taking a chance on a big, fast guy."

The irony is the Argos are attempting to sign receiver P.K. Sam, who played with the Argos last year and signed with the Buffalo Bills in the off-season. Sam, who has played in the NFL before, was recently cut because of a quadriceps injury. Sam caught 36 passes for 499 yards and three touchdowns in just six games with the Argos last year.

He signed with the NFL by exercising the two-month option window in his contract, but the Argos retain his contractual rights if he decides to play in the CFL again.
