RENTON, Wash. -- Receiver Deion Branch's ability to play in the Seattle Seahawks' opener against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday will be a game-time decision.
Branch appeared to injure his hamstring toward the end of practice on Monday and he didn't practice all week. He did work out with a trainer on a separate field Friday.
Coach Jim Mora said the team will have Branch go through workouts at the stadium early Sunday to see if they feel comfortable with Branch's progress.
"I wouldn't even speculate right now -- just wait to see," Mora said. "I know this, we're going to make a decision that's best for the team and the longevity of the season. We're not going to put him out there if he's in danger of further injury."
Branch missed six games for Seattle in 2007, including tearing his ACL in a playoff game against the Green Bay Packers. That injury lingered into 2008, causing him to sit out the first three games of the 2008 season. He returned to play against the New York Giants only to injure his foot and miss the next five games.
Branch again had knee surgery this off-season that caused him to miss most of the team's off-season activities.
He's missed 14 out of a possible 34 games the past two seasons, including the playoffs.
NOTES: T Walter Jones (knee), C Chris Spencer (quad), DE Derek Walker (hamstring), CB Travis Fisher (hamstring) and Branch did not practice on Friday. S C.J. Wallace (ribs) was limited. Jones and Spencer are out. Walker and Wallace are doubtful. Fisher and Branch are questionable.
