ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Bills secondary is minus two starters with cornerback Leodis McKelvin out indefinitely with a broken bone in his leg and safety Donte Whitner requiring surgery to repair an injured thumb.

Coach Dick Jauron said Monday that McKelvin's injury is the most serious and he isn't sure when the player will return. McKelvin was injured in the first half of a 27-7 loss to New Orleans on Sunday.

Jauron said Whitner's status will be monitored on a weekly basis, though the coach did not reveal the exact nature of the injury.

That means a defence already missing starting middle linebacker Paul Poslusnzy (broken left arm), will be further depleted Sunday when Buffalo (1-2) travels to play at Miami (0-3).
