Week 2 of the NFL season wrapped up with the Giants beating the Rams in a sloppy game on Monday night. While it wasn't pretty, the game did feature some amazing plays. Domenik Hixon stood out as an early candidate for the catch of the year after his amazing circus touchdown reception in the second quarter of Monday's game.

It's time to take a look back at what happened in Week 2:

Star of the week: After another stellar effort, Tom Brady would be an easy and obvious choice. Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick also receives honourable mention for his second-half heroics in the Bills incredible come from behind win over the Raiders. However I feel the award should go to Cowboys receiver Miles Austin. Austin caught three touchdowns from two different quarterbacks in the Cowboys win over the 49ers. Austin finished with nine catches for 143 yards.

Stiff of the week: This award goes out to the entire Kansas City Chiefs team. In the first two weeks of the season, the Chiefs have been outscored 89-10. On Sunday, Matthew Stafford and the Lions completely embarrassed the Chiefs 48-3. Matt Cassel had a miserable day, throwing three interceptions and ended up with a quarterback rating of 44.5. So with injuries mounting and Cassel struggling, the Chiefs will attempt to turn things around next week in San Diego. Good luck with that.

Team on the rise: While many people are shocked by the Bills 2-0 start to the season, most people are downright stunned to see the Redskins undefeated after two weeks. Rex Grossman battled through some turnovers and was able to lead the Redskins to comeback win over the Cardinals. Rookie linebacker Ryan Kerrigan is already making an impact on the defense and running back Tim Hightower has proven to be a shrewd off-season acquisition by Mike Shanahan. For what it's worth, the last time the Redskins started the season 2-0 was in 2007, where they ended up making the playoffs.

The "Dream Team" watch: Michael Vick and the "Dream Team" came crashing back to earth Sunday night in Atlanta. Vick was knocked out of the game with a concussion when his head bounced off the shoulder pads of his own offensive lineman. Mike Kafka did a solid job in relief of Vick, but a rare dropped pass by Jeremy Maclin late in the fourth quarter ended any chance of an Eagles comeback. As good as the Eagles rebuilt secondary is, they still allowed Matt Ryan and the Falcons to score 35 points.

What where they thinking?: On behalf of the Seattle Seahawks, this award goes out to NFL Network's Warren Sapp. In the buildup to Sunday's game against the Seahawks, Sapp called the Steelers "old and slow". Coming off an embarrassing loss to the Ravens, this off-hand comment by Sapp only served to further incite the Steelers to take out their frustrations on Pete Carroll's over-matched squad. Why Sapp would declare that the Steelers are "old and slow" after only one week is beyond me.

The Ronnie Lott award: This week's award goes out to Steelers linebacker James Harrison for his textbook open field tackle of Tavaris Jackson. For a change, Harrison won't have to pay a fine for one his patented bone-crushing tackles. Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson won't win any awards for his head shot on Maclin on Sunday night. What he did win was a $40,000 fine from the NFL.

The unsung hero: The winner of this award was once the winner of a reality show, Cowboys receiver Jesse Holley. If the name sounds vaguely familiar that's because Holley earned an invitation to Cowboys training camp after he won Michael Irvin's reality show. On Sunday, Holley took a pass from Tony Romo and rocketed 77 yards before finally being dragged down. That pass and run play by Holley was good enough to set up the game-winning field goal. By the way, Romo came back into the game after cracking a rib and suffering a collapsed lung, and still made the crucial play when the Cowboys needed it. The man deserves a little bit of respect.

Big injuries of the week: There were a number of injuries that took place, including Vick's aforementioned concussion and the Jets Nick Mangold's high-ankle sprain. However the most serious injury was suffered suffered by Packers safety Nick Collins. Trying to make a tackle on Jonathan Stewart, Collins neck snapped off of the thigh of Stewart in an awkward position.

The injury is devastating to the Packers on a number of fronts. Not only was Collins a rising star in the secondary, he is also a leader in the locker room. The Packer nation can only hope that Collins will be able to recover from the injury in time to play next season.

Best injury caused by a mascot: As if the Chiefs didn't already have enough problems, star running back Jamaal Charles tore the ACL in his left knee. As Charles ran out of bounds, he collided with the Detroit Lions mascot "Roary". The Chiefs have already lost tight end Tony Moeaki and safety Eric Berry to season-ending injuries, now Charles is done for the year; just another crippling blow to a team in utter disarray.

What to watch for in week 3: Here's something most people never expected to hear; the 2-0 Bills will host the 2-0 Patriots at Ralph Wilson Stadium. The Cowboys host the Redskins in a classic NFC East showdown. The undefeated Texans take on the Saints in New Orleans. And finally a game I am really looking forward to, the Bucs host the Falcons.
