EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New York Giants have signed Chase Blackburn and placed offensive tackle Will Beatty on injured reserve.
The signing on Wednesday brings Blackburn back to the team he played for from 2005 through last season, starting 17 of 93 games. He was a free agent after the lockout and no one signed him.
Blackburn led the Giants in special teams tackles in each of his six seasons. He also started games at middle linebacker and weakside linebacker.
Beatty started the season's first 10 games at left tackle. He underwent surgery last week to repair a detached retina in his right eye.
The Giants also signed receiver Isaiah Stanback to their practice squad and terminated the practice-squad contract of quarterback Ryan Perrilloux for the sixth time this season.
