Williams' breaks ankle, season done

RENTON, Wash. -- Wide receiver Mike Williams has been placed on injured reserve by the Seattle Seahawks after suffering a broken left ankle in Sunday's win over Chicago.
Coach Pete Carroll said Williams underwent successful surgery on Tuesday. Williams was hurt in the third quarter of Sunday's 38-14 win when he was tackled after making his second catch.
The injury capped a disappointing season for Williams, who had a breakout 2010 only to struggle in 2011. Williams finished the year with 18 catches for 236 yards and one touchdown, after having 65 receptions a year ago.
Seattle signed cornerback Phillip Adams to the active roster out of concern that reserve cornerback Kennard Cox may not be ready for Saturday's game versus San Francisco.
