KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City Chiefs put running back Jackie Battle on injured reserve and signed running back Shaun Draughn to the active roster before their season finale against Denver.
Battle was in a walking boot and did not practice this week after sustaining a foot injury in last Sunday's overtime loss to Oakland, which eliminated Kansas City from playoff contention.
The Broncos can clinch the AFC West by beating the Chiefs on Sunday.
Battle had taken over as the primary running back after All-Pro Jamaal Charles went down with a season-ending knee injury in Week 2. Battle ran for 715 yards and four touchdowns this season.
Draughn was signed by Washington as an undrafted free agent and spent 13 weeks on the Kansas City practice squad. He'll provide depth behind Thomas Jones, Dexter McCluster and Le'Ron McClain.
