SAN DIEGO — San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews was carted off the field after appearing to hurt his right knee in a game against Seattle on Sunday.

Mathews fumbled on the play, but it was recovered by teammate Eddie Royal.

Now in his fifth year, Mathews has a history of injuries. He made it through a full season for the first time last year, gaining a career-high 1,255 yards. He played through an ankle sprain late in the season, but was forced out of a playoff loss at Denver by the injury.
