Gotta See It: Rams, Chargers throw punches at shared practice

The Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers have been participating in shared practices this week, and it turns out sharing isn’t really their thing.

Three fights broke out on the practice field during scrimmages at StubHub Center between the teams.

The biggest throwdown began with Chargers wide receiver Dontrelle Inman and Rams cornerback Trumaine Johnson throwing a few punches early in the scrimmage.

“It was chippy,” Inman said via the team’s website. “This is day six. You’re tired and the [first pre-season] game is coming up so you’re tired of hitting each other, so you want to hit someone else.”

Chargers (injury-prone) wide receiver Keenan Allen ramped things up when he came flying into the fracas and took down Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman. Allen’s the one in the yellow socks:

The second and third fights got a little messy.

The series of scuffles is being dubbed The Fight For L.A., thanks to the Chargers’ recent fan campaign.

The Chargers and Rams, who are calling LA Memorial Coliseum home these days while the Inglewood stadium is being built, won’t meet up in the regular season this year, but they will be playing against each other in a pre-season game on Aug. 26 at StubHub Center—temporary home of the Chargers.

The two will have to get used to sharing at some point, as they’ll both be moving into Inglewood for the 2020 season. For now, though, the fight continues.
