FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The New York Jets have activated guard Willie Colon from the active/physically unable to perform list, and he is expected to participate in the team’s first padded practice Saturday.

Colon was placed on the active/PUP list Wednesday when players reported for camp because of pain in his left knee. Both Colon and coach Todd Bowles were optimistic Friday that he would be activated soon, with the guard saying that he felt good and it would be "time to roll" when he was activated.

The 32-year-old Colon has been the starter at right guard the last two seasons and will be competing with several players, including Oday Aboushi, Brian Winters and Brent Qvale.

Running back Stevan Ridley (knee) and defensive lineman Kevin Vickerson (hamstring) remain on the active-PUP list.
