FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The New York Jets have re-signed wide receiver Ben Obomanu as insurance for the injured Jeremy Kerley, who has a concussion and is uncertain to play at New England on Thursday night.

Obomanu was among the Jets’ final cuts this summer after having a solid training camp. He spent the last six seasons in Seattle and has 87 career receptions for 1,209 yards with seven touchdowns.

Kerley was injured Sunday after taking a hard hit from Tampa Bay’s Mark Barron late in the second quarter of New York’s 18-17 victory Sunday. Kerley’s helmet popped off during the hit, and Barron was assessed a 15-yard personal foul penalty. He passed in-game and postgame concussion tests, but exhibited concussionlike symptoms Monday.

To make room for Obomanu, the Jets released linebacker Scott Solomon.
