CORTLAND, N.Y. — The New York Jets have agreed to terms on a two-year deal with free-agent defensive end Jason Babin, giving Rex Ryan’s defence a veteran pass rusher.

Babin had 7 1/2 sacks last season for Jacksonville, and was released in the off-season.

The Jets, who reported for training camp Wednesday, released cornerback Lowell Rose to make room for Babin.

Guard Willie Colon and linebacker Antwan Barnes were each placed on the active/physically unable to perform list as they recover from knee surgeries.

Tight end Jeff Cumberland was excused for personal reasons, and will report to camp on Thursday — the first day of on-field practice. Cumberland wrote on Twitter that he was attending the funeral of a family member.
