The NFL has announced that Sunday’s game between the Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will not be played in Miami.

The decision, made on Tuesday, is based off of the potential impact of Hurricane Irma on South Florida, which is slowly moving towards the area.

The NFL, state and local officials, and both clubs made the decision in the interest of public safety. The state of Florida declared a state of emergency on Monday.

There’s a possibility that the game could still be played on Sunday at a neutral site or in Miami later this season.

An update on the game’s status will be made as soon as possible.

Hurricane Irma is the second major hurricane to hit the United States in the last two weeks after Hurricane Harvey swept through Texas. Although that storm did major damage to Houston, Sunday’s game between the Texans and Jaguars is expected to take place at NRG Stadium.
