Star tight end Rob Gronkowski left New England’s 22-17 victory against the New York Jets with a back injury, and the lowly Chicago Bears lost another linebacker when Danny Trevathan got hurt in the closing minutes of their 27-21 loss to Tennessee on Sunday.

Gronkowski left in the first quarter. He was questionable coming into the day after missing last weekend’s game at San Francisco with a chest injury. It was not immediately certain if the latest injury was connected to the previous one.

Gronkowski had no catches when he left, with Tom Brady unable to connect with him on two third-down throws.

Trevathan was injured away from the ball when the Titans handed off to Derrick Henry on second-and-5 at their 22 with just under three minutes remaining. Trevathan stayed down clutching his right leg and was tended to for several minutes before being helped off the field.

Coach John Fox said Trevathan’s knee injury "appears to be serious, but we do not have all the tests run to give you a real solid prognosis to this point."

Oakland lost quarterback Derek Carr after he hurt his right pinkie while fumbling a snap on the second play from scrimmage in the third quarter. But he returned in time to rally the Raiders to a 35-32 victory against Carolina.

Panthers centre Gino Gradkowski departed with a knee injury, and Oakland cornerback DJ Hayden left with a hamstring injury.

Buffalo cornerback Ronald Darby sustained a concussion after taking a knee to the head while making a tackle in the first quarter against Jacksonville.

The Jaguars had four players get hurt: receiver Allen Hurns (hamstring), running back Chris Ivory (hamstring), receiver Rashad Greene Sr. (Achilles) and safety Peyton Thompson (ankle).

New York Giants star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. briefly left the game against Cleveland, missing one series after getting X-rays on his right thumb. Giants backup safety Nate Berhe sustained a concussion while covering a kickoff in the second quarter. Also, Giants defensive end Owa Odighizuwa left with an injured left knee in the second quarter. Browns running back Duke Johnson (stinger) and right guard John Greco (foot) were both hurt in the second half.

Cincinnati cornerback Chykie Brown was carted off late in the second quarter with a knee injury against the Baltimore Ravens. Bengals cornerback Josh Shaw hurt his ankle, and tight end Tyler Kroft was taken to the locker room with a possible concussion.

Los Angeles offensive lineman Rodger Saffold injured his hand and cornerback E.J. Gaines had a chest injury against New Orleans.

Miami’s DeVante Parker went to the locker room with a back injury late in the third quarter against San Francisco. 49ers linebacker Shayne Skov (knee) and receiver Quinton Patton (concussion) left with injuries, as did Miami defensive end Mario Williams (illness) and cornerback Lafayette Pitts.

Seattle lost tight end Luke Willson to a knee injury in the opening quarter of its 14-5 loss at Tampa Bay.
