CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers signed free-agent safety Thomas DeCoud to a two-year contract.
Financial terms were not released Thursday.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound DeCoud spent the last six seasons with the Atlanta Falcons and went to the Pro Bowl in 2012. He started 15 games in 2013 and had 83 tackles and returned a fumble 30 yards for a touchdown.
Earlier Thursday, the team signed free-agent tight end Ed Dickson from the Baltimore Ravens.
Panthers coach Ron Rivera says in a release DeCoud "provides a veteran in the secondary who is familiar with the NFC South and has been a very solid player." DeCoud’s best season came in 2012 when he led the Falcons with six interceptions, 89 tackles, one sack and one fumble recovery.
