FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — The Patriots have placed running back Dion Lewis and tackle Sebastian Vollmer on the reserve/physically unable to perform list, and released three additional players to meet the NFL’s 75-player roster limit.

The players released Tuesday were linebacker Ramon Humber, offensive lineman Keavon Milton and tight end Steven Scheu. By moving Lewis and Vollmer to the PUP list they must sit out for at least the first six weeks of the season.

Neither Lewis nor Vollmer has appeared in any of the Patriots’ three preseason games. Lewis had surgery on his left ACL in November and reportedly had a second procedure on the knee this summer.

Vollmer was expected to be a starter this season at right tackle, but has been sidelined during training camp with an undisclosed injury.
