NEW YORK — Phil Simms is heading to the studio as part of the CBS program "NFL Today."

Simms, recently replaced in the broadcast booth by Tony Romo when the Cowboys quarterback retired from playing, has experience working in a studio setting with Showtime’s "Inside the NFL."

The longtime lead analyst for NFL games on CBS, Simms also was part of two Super Bowl champion teams as a New York Giants quarterback.

Simms joins Boomer Esiason, Bill Cowher, Bart Scott and James Brown as part of the program.
