ALAMEDA, Calif. — The Oakland Raiders have released defensive tackle Antonio Smith after just one season with the team.

The Raiders announced the move to cut Smith on Tuesday, one year after signing him to a two-year contract.

Smith started 16 games for Oakland last season. He had three sacks and was an effective pass rusher from the inside but struggled against the run.

Smith has played 11 seasons in the NFL for Arizona, Houston and Oakland. He has 44 1/2 career sacks in 156 career games.

The Raiders signed defensive tackle Dan Williams earlier in free agency to start alongside Justin Ellis, who played well as a rookie.
