OWINGS MILLS, Md. — The Baltimore Ravens have signed quarterback Matt Schaub to a one-year contract.

The 33-year-old Schaub has 90 career starts but is expected to contend for backup to Joe Flacco. Tyrod Taylor served behind Flacco for four years before leaving for Buffalo as a free agent.

Schaub played with Oakland last season, throwing only 10 passes as a backup. He began his career in Atlanta in 2004 before playing seven seasons for Houston from 2007 through 2013.

Schaub’s best years came with the Texans, when he threw for more than 4,000 yards in 2009, 2010 and 2012. He was selected for the Pro Bowl in 2009 and 2012.

He has thrown for 24,311 yards, 130 touchdowns and 86 interceptions.
