The Green Bay Packers extended head coach Mike McCarthy during the 2017 season in a move that keeps him under contract through 2019, according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.
McCarthy, 54, has been coach of the Packers since 2006, leading the team to a 121-70-1 record in 12 seasons which include a Super Bowl victory, six NFC North titles and nine trips to the post-season.
The Packers are coming off a disappointing 7-9 campaign in which star quarterback Aaron Rodgers played just seven games due to a broken collarbone suffered in a Week 6 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
As a result, Green Bay has been busy since the season ended, firing long-time defensive co-ordinator Dom Capers and moving general manager Ted Thompson into a new role as senior adviser of football operations.
