Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen will have surgery on his broken right foot and is expected to miss six to eight weeks.
Olsen suffered the injury during Sunday’s 9-3 win over the Buffalo Bills. He reportedly felt “something pop” while running a route during the first half of the game.
The Week 3 matchup against the New Orleans Saints will mark the first time that the 11-year veteran will miss an NFL game due to injury.
If Olsen remains out for eight weeks, he could return as late as Week 11 when the Panthers have their bye week.
In 160 games split between the Panthers and the Chicago Bears, Olsen has 625 receptions for 7,393 yards and 52 touchdowns.
