The Houston Texans could be without star running back Arian Foster to start the season.

According to multiple reports, Foster suffered a severe groin injury during practice on Monday and is expected to undergo surgery. It’s unknown how long Foster will be out, but if he is placed on the injured reserve/designated for return list he wouldn’t be eligible to play until Week 9.

Foster had a bounce back year in 2014 after missing time with injury the season prior. The four-time Pro Bowler finished with 1,246 yards rushing with eight touchdowns, along with 327 yards and five touchdowns through the air.

Alfred Blue will likely receive the bulk of touches in Foster’s absence, with Jonathan Grimes and Chris Polk behind him on the depth chart.
