NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Saints have placed nose tackle John Jenkins on the physically unable to perform list just days before the start of training camp.

Jenkins has not practiced this off-season because of a pectoral injury.

A third-round pick out of Georgia in 2013, Jenkins played regularly as a rookie. He appeared in all 16 games with five starts and was credited with 21 tackles, including two for losses. He also was credited with a pair of quarterback hits.

Players on PUP lists cannot practice, but can come off the list at any time during training camp. Players still on PUP lists when the regular season starts cannot practice or play for at least six weeks.

The Saints report for camp Thursday in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
