METAIRIE, La. — The New Orleans Saints have placed cornerback Keenan Lewis on injured reserve, ending his season.

The move, published on the NFL’s transactions list Thursday, ends a frustrating season for Lewis, who has played in only six of New Orleans’ 10 games this season because of a nagging hip injury.

Lewis also injured his knee during New Orleans’ Week 10 loss at Washington.

In a corresponding move, the Saints signed cornerback Chris Owens, whose last regular-season action came last season with Kansas City.

Owens played in 11 games last season with the Chiefs with three starts. He was in on 33 tackles and also credited with half a sack and four passes defended.

The Saints, who had a bye last weekend, play at Houston on Sunday.
